Tea lattes are one of my favorite things! They are so delightful any time of the day, whether it’s in the summertime or wintertime! They are easy to make hot or cold! I freakin’ love them! In just a couple of minutes, you can incorporate a little Zen into your day! I share a basic tea latte recipe you can easily build on to suit your fancy.
To begin, a tea latte is a drink consisting of tea and milk. This includes any kind of tea and any kind of milk. Above all, I prefer it with oat milk as it is the creamiest. You can either steam or froth the milk. Some people make theirs with 1/4 water to 3/4 milk. Personally, I enjoy it half and half. Play around and see what you like!
Additionally, before I owned a milk frother, I would pour all of my ingredients into a blender once the tea steeped. Then blend on high for about one minute and *voila* froth!

Water Temperature
In all honesty, this is something I never thought much about in the past, oops! Although, recently I’ve learned the importance of it. The temperature of your water is vital to optimize the flavor of your tea. As a matter of fact, different tea leaves may vary in what they require. Some tea leaves are more delicate like white and green tea leaves. Therefore, they require a lower temperature between 170-185F so their leaves won’t burn and turn bitter.
Whereas, black tea can handle a full boil. That being the case, you can either purchase a digital thermometer to help you or just keep an eye on your water and guestimate.
Simple Tea Latte Recipe
SERVE HOT OR COLD!
Prep Time: 3 mins
Steep Time: 5-10 mins
Servings: 1
Ingredients:
- 1-2 Tea bags or 1-2 tbsp. of dried herbs of choice
- 1/2 tsp of raw, local honey
- 1/2 cup of milk of choice (I prefer oat milk barista or regular oat milk)
- 1/2 cup water (*temperature depends on the tea’s specific steeping instructions)
Directions:
- Add water to a kettle and turn on.
- Pour milk of choice into milk frother if you have one. Be sure to change the setting to cold stir if doing a cold latte or warm stir if making a warm latte! Otherwise, use a handheld frother. *Alternatively, once tea is steeped, you can add all the ingredients to a blender and blend on high for 1 minute to froth it all up!*
- Add honey and tea to cup.
- Steep tea. Warm Latte: Once tea has steeped, add frothed milk, stir. Cold Latte: Once tea has steeped, let cool(can place in the fridge), add frothed milk, stir. Add ice cubes.
- Enjoy!
